1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Albumscope (“Albumscope”, “we”, “us” or “our”) handles information in connection with the Albumscope browser extension for Google Chrome (the “Extension”) and the website at albumscope.com (the “Website”, and together with the Extension, the “Services”).
We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy. By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read this policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Services.
Albumscope is an independent product. It is not made, endorsed or sponsored by Google LLC, and is not affiliated with Google. Google Photos and Chrome are trademarks of Google LLC.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide to us
If you contact us, for example by email, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and the contents of your message and any attachments.
2.2 Content of your Google Photos account
The Extension displays albums from your Google Photos account at your request. We do not collect, receive, store or have access to your photos, videos, album titles, descriptions or any other content of your Google Photos account. This content is not transmitted to us or to any third party.
2.3 Settings saved on your device
The Extension saves your settings, such as the experience you chose for an album, on your device so that they are available the next time you use it. These settings are not transmitted to us, and we cannot access them.
2.4 Technical information
When you visit the Website, our hosting provider automatically processes technical information needed to deliver the Website and protect it from abuse, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the date and time of the request.
The Extension does not collect analytics, usage statistics, crash reports, browsing history or any other information about how you use it.
3. How we use information
We use the information described above only to:
- respond to your questions, requests and feedback;
- operate, maintain and secure the Website; and
- comply with our legal obligations and enforce our rights.
We do not use personal information for advertising, to build profiles about you, or to make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
4. Legal bases for processing
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we process personal information on the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interests: to respond to your messages and to operate and secure the Website. You may object to this processing as described in section 11.
- Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose information to comply with applicable law.
You are not required to provide personal information to use the Extension. If you contact us without providing an email address, we will not be able to reply.
5. How we share information
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose personal information only:
- to service providers that host the Website and provide our email service, who process it on our behalf and under our instructions;
- to comply with the law, such as in response to a valid legal request, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our users, the public or Albumscope; and
- in a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to the information transferred.
6. Google user data
The Extension uses information from your Google Photos account only to provide its user-facing features, at your request. That information is not transferred to us or to third parties, is not used or transferred for advertising, is not sold, is not used to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes, and is not read by humans.
Albumscope’s use of information received from Google adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
7. Cookies and tracking
The Website does not use cookies, analytics, advertising, tracking pixels or third-party scripts, and no third party conducts tracking on the Website. Because we do not track visitors over time or across websites, the Services do not respond differently to “Do Not Track” signals or similar browser settings.
8. Data retention
- Correspondence is kept for as long as needed to respond to you and keep a record of our exchange, and is then deleted, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.
- Technical information processed by our hosting provider is kept for a limited period for security and operational purposes, under that provider’s retention practices.
- Settings saved on your device remain there until you remove the Extension.
9. Data security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including encrypting the Website’s connections with HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International data transfers
Our service providers may process personal information in the United States and in other countries whose data protection laws may differ from those of your country. Where required, these transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy of it;
- correct inaccurate personal information;
- delete your personal information;
- restrict or object to our processing of it;
- receive it in a portable format; and
- withdraw any consent you have given, without affecting processing that took place before.
To exercise these rights, email privacy@albumscope.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California residents
In the past 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information, for the purposes described in section 3: identifiers (such as an email address you send us) and internet activity information (such as the technical information described in section 2.4). We have not sold or shared personal information, and we do not collect sensitive personal information. You may make a request yourself or through an authorized agent.
12. Children’s privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
13. Third-party services
The Extension works with Google Photos, a service provided by Google LLC. Your use of Google Photos is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. The Website may link to other websites, whose privacy practices we do not control.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and change the “Last updated” date above. If we make material changes, we will provide additional notice, such as on the Website or in the Extension, before they take effect.
15. Contact us
If you have questions about this policy or our privacy practices, please contact us at privacy@albumscope.com.
